Sheriff Tommy W. Allen Jr. announced that Allen was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. without incident in a rural area of Anson County, at a home on Usrey Road near Lilesville. He is confined at Anson County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Allen, 35,  allege that Allen beat and shot William David Scott, 54, of Rockingham. Sheriff Allen said Scott appeared to have been shot in the right foot or leg. The victim was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he was treated for trauma to his head. Scott was released from the hospital Friday morning.

Authorities allege that Allen, whose last known address was on Oak Avenue in Rockingham, indicated that Scott was responsible for his mother being killed in a motor vehicle crash several years ago.

According to Deputy Evan Carville’s report, he responded to the Anson County boat landing along the Pee Dee River Thursday evening for a report of a fight. While en route, Carville said the emergency was upgraded to a subject had been shot. When Carville arrived on scene, the Lilesville Police Chief Bobby Gallimore and Officer Donald Jenks already were on location.

“As I walked up to the scene, I noticed a white male subject on his back beside a tree with blood coming out of his mouth and blood on top of his right foot,” Carville reported.

Carville learned the suspect had left the scene before the Lilesville officers had arrived. The call to 911 was made by John Thomas Liverman. Liverman was still at the scene when Carville arrived. Liverman indicated that the shooter’s name was “Mike” and “that Mike stated the victim, William David Scott, had killed his mother in a vehicle accident several years prior to today.”

Carville said another man, identified as Terry Alexander Scott, approached the scene and began talking with the victim. Carville said T.A. Scott acknowledged he had given W.D. Scott a ride to the river and confirmed the shooter’s name was Mike.
