The store clerk at One Stop convenience store on Airport Road in East Rockingham reported he was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

The clerk at One Stop, located on Airport Road, notified the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office within three minutes after the suspect exited the building at about 5:30 a.m. that a white male, age unknown, had entered the store and brandished a hand gun with a single command: “Give me the money.”

Chief Deputy Mark Gulledge said the clerk complied, and the suspect — clad in a black ski mask, a black hooded sweat jacket, black jeans and black sneakers with white soles, began stuffing the money into his pockets. When it wouldn’t fit, the suspect grew agitated. And threatening.

“Put it in a bag before I … shoot you,” the suspect commanded the clerk.

The attendant again complied, police said, and the suspect exited the building. It was unknown if he left the area on foot or by vehicle. The attendant was not injured during the incident.

The clerk contacted the store’s owner by text message, and the owner directed the clerk to contact police. Gulledge said deputies and a K-9 unit responded to the scene but a search yielded nothing. Gulledge said he it was unknown if the store has surveillance cameras.

Reached at One Stop Monday, the store owner declined comment.
