Forecast postpones True Outlaw Street Drags

ROCKINGHAM — Noting that “drag racing and rain don’t mix”, Rockingham Dragway has reluctantly pulled the plug on Sunday’s True Outlaw Street Drags and rescheduled for mid-March.

“Based on the most recent forecast, and on the dreadful weather we have experienced this week, we felt the decision was to save everyone the aggravation of watching the weather channel all weekend,” Rockingham Dragway owner Steve Earwood said on Friday.

Dragway“We really didn’t want to postpone this one as there was a lot of momentum building with true street racers for this program.”

Sunday’s True Outlaw Street Drags will be contested on Sunday, March 15. There will be no change in the original schedule, gates will open at 10 a.m. and five classes of street-driven vehicles, including motorcycles, will race until 6 p.m.

“So, we’ll prepare for next weekend’s (Feb. 28 – March 1) Racers Appreciation Free Entry Race, and watch Sunday’s Daytona 500.”
