Youth soccer teams earn silver medals

CHARLOTTE — Two Richmond County youth soccer teams earned second-place finishes in their respective age divisions in the Powerade State Games of North Carolina.
All games were played at Mazeppa Road Park in Charlotte. The competition was open to all club teams from the Carolinas.
In the Under-14 division, the Richmond Revolution defeated SISA Red 4-0 on June 21 before falling 4-2 the next day to Mint Hill United in the championship match.
The Revolution (pictured in the white jerseys) include, front row, left to right: Zane Ritter, Jimmy Cooley, C.J. Helms, Nolan Allen, Drew Grant, Nick Pearson, Carter Roberson, Johnathan Tadlock and Daniel Sisk. In the Under-19 division, the Richmond team earned two wins on Saturday, including an 18-0 drubbing of the DCYSA Dragons in the early contest and a 6-0 win over Morrison YMCA in game two. On Sunday, Richmond beat the QCFC Tigers 3-2 to force a rematch for the championship. There, Richmond stumbled, 3-2.
