HAMLET — Richmond Community College is offering a series of workshops this summer focusing on improving lawns and beautifying landscapes.
Classes will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the first course focusing on Turf Management and running from May 12 through June 4.
Topics include plant identification, fertilizer and chemical care, as well as watering, herbicides and proper pruning and use of insecticides.
The second course, running from June 16 through July 9 will focus on landscaping with native plants, covering 10 plants common to the Sandhills area and discussing when they should be planted, when they bloom and instructions on pruning, fertilizing and using pest control.
The final course of the series will be held July 21 through Aug. 13 and cover landscaping construction, including permeable and impermeable pavers, as well as segmental retaining walls.
All classes will meet in Room 319 of the Forte Building on RCC’s main campus in Hamlet. Cost for each individual course is $70.
