Pastor Hill: A priceless gift, part 2

Editor’s note: This is part two of a two-part series. Part one was published on Nov. 15.

Col 1:12-14, “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

“Then it happened! An earthquake heralded it. Jesus rose from the dead. The power of darkness was overwhelmed by the light of a new, eternal day. A vast highway had been built leading out of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear Son.” J. Phillips

Speaking the Truth in Love

Our Conqueror (Jesus Christ) has vanquished the enemies of the cross and has translated us to the kingdom of His dear Son. We have been rescued. We have been set free from Satan’s realm of darkness and placed in His kingdom. This deliverance and translation is accomplished through redemption, forgiveness and reconciliation.

WE HAVE BEEN REDEEMED: Redemption speaks of a “ransom that is paid in full.” The Bible teaches that “all have sinned,” and “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.” Sin holds man captive and in need of someone who has the power to procure freedom. Man has no ability to pay this great debt so God sent His own Son to pay our debt personally. What a great gift. Upon trusting Christ, we are, “born again” and granted immediate access to our new kingdom. No permission is required from others, Jesus has written our names in His book and we have direct access.

We enter this kingdom at a great price. The price of Calvary’s cross. We owe absolutely nothing, we need only to “believe in our heart and confess with our mouth,” to receive all that God offers. Titus 3:5, “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.” We do not earn it as wages; we receive it as, “the gift of God.”

We enter this kingdom under pardon (“even the forgiveness of sins”) from the King Himself. This is not a get out of jail free card; it is justification, which means, “Just as if we’d never sinned.” Only Jesus can give this pardon and He gives it to all who ask. Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

We enter this kingdom with an inheritance. We are now privileged to be members of the family of God and joint-heirs (Romans 8:17) with Jesus Christ Himself. The Bible reveals much to us regarding our inheritance, may we display a desire to read what has been willed to us as Christians.

WE HAVE BEEN TRANSLATED: To be translated means to be moved from one realm to another, from the realm of darkness to God’s kingdom. It is not a physical border we can walk across, we cannot enter by way of a place such as Ellis Island, there is no entry via political asylum. There is only one way, John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

It is a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17). The world for centuries has sought peace without success. Peace cannot be legislated into existence. Real and true peace is only available when we move from darkness into the light. This peace is available through the King of kings, purchased by His life.

We now have a new home, we are part of His glorious kingdom and we are Ambassadors for Heaven. We now represent our King in this world. What a joy it is to encourage others to consider becoming part of God’s kingdom.

We now experience the joy of being under Christ’s government in His kingdom of light. There will be no more darkness, no sorrow, no pain, and no death when He brings all His Ambassador’s home.

Isa 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
