Obituary: Julius Hatcher

Mr. Julius Hatcher, 92, of Brunswick County, formerly of Rockingham, N.C., died, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at SECU Brunswick Hospice House in Bolivia.

He was born April 15, 1923, in Scotland County, son of Irvin Hatcher and Lucy Clark Hatcher.

Mr. Hatcher was a veteran of U.S. Army during World War II, member of Temple Baptist Church and former member of Maple Street Free Will Baptist. He was owner and operator of several service stations in Richmond County over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife, Mildred Little Hatcher; sisters, Naomi Cole, Loney Norton Scott, Lee Leviner and Annie Hatcher; and brothers, Austin, Cleveland and Everett Hatcher.

Survivors include his daughter, Carol Ann Jackson and husband Brian of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; son, Curtis Hatcher and wife Dianne Tanner Hatcher of Shallotte; sisters, Margie Reeves of Honea Path, S.C., Dot Anders of Laurinburg and Christine Cox of Little Washington; five grandchildren, Wayne Hatcher and wife Peggy, Dwayne Hatcher and wife Gennie, Michael Hatcher and wife Yvonne, John Lyerly and wife Brantley and Edith Lyerly; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at Harrington Funeral Home/

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Byrd and Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Hatcher family.
