HAMLET, N.C. — George Edward Reeves Sr., 64, passed away on May 7, 2015 in Hamlet.
George was born in Pontiac, Mich., on January 8, 1951.
George was a humble man who held a millwright journeyman and multiple college degrees though few ever knew. He also served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army.
George worked as Maintenance Manager at Impact-South, but when he was not working he could be found doing one of his many life’s enjoyments — a Harley bike ride, racing cars (street and non-street legal), country dancing, woodworking, or hunting/fishing. When that would not do for him, he focused on building/rebuilding/engineering/reengineering anything that need it … and sometimes even when it was not needed or asked.
Lastly, above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family, Melanie, and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Godfrey Reeves.
He is survived by his mother, Connie Reeves; a son, George E. Reeves Jr.; a daughter, Angela Nichole Reeves; a granddaughter, Tabitha Reeves; his girlfriend, Melanie Thomson; a brother, Mark Fredrick Reeves; and a sister, Denise Reeves Toler.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 10 in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
