ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — George Oather Robinson Jr., 87, of 599 Dockery Road, Rockingham,
passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015.
George was born on Dec. 30, 1927 in Tampa, Fla., to the late George Oather and
Nora Belle Dorman Robinson.
He served four years in the U.S. Army and retired from NC Natural Gas Co. with 25 years of service.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Carolyn Croom Robinson.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Robinson Grant, of the home; a sister, Polly Reinholt of
Holiday, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marsha (Johnny) Rhodes, Chris Grant, all of Rockingham, Tim (Kim) Grant of Pinehurst, and John Grant of Shallotte; 11 great-grandchildren, Tommy, Skylar, Will, Kelsey, Krista, CJ, Coty, Grayson, Jenna, Bennett, and Mason; and one great-great grandchild, Karson.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Calvary Baptist Church, Hamlet with Pastor Scott Conner and Dr. Jerry Mims officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. Lafayetteville Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at Calvary Baptist Church.
