Obituary: Maxine Ussery

Maxine Martin Ussery, 86, formerly of Rockingham, N.C., passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at The Oaks at Mayview in Raleigh.

Mrs. Ussery was born Jan. 5, 1928 in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late John Marion and Ellen Ethel Collins Martin. She was a member of McDonald Baptist Churchand a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Washington Ussery and a sister Estelle Taylor.

She is survived by a son, Henry Wayne Ussery (Jessie) of Darlington, S.C.;  daughters, Patsy Maxine Craven (Tom) of Wilmington,  Sheri Anita Ussery of Cary, Kay Ussery Bradley (Russ) of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Dudley Martin of Elizabethtown, Kent.; sisters, Juanita McQueen of Eden, Peggy Morrow of Rockingham;  grandchildren, Michael Wayne Ussery, Brian Kendall Ussery, Brent Stephen Ussery, Elizabeth Carriker Hinson, Cynthia Elaine Carriker, Robert S. Baker III, Michelle Raines, Carl Craven, Julia Bradley, Jonathan Bradley and 16great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at McDonald Baptist Church with Rev. Marcia McQueen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will see friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home of Elizabeth Hinson, 1071 Crawford Road, Ellerbe.
