Obituary: Mildred Ballard

HAMLET, N.C. — Mrs. Mildred R. Ballard, 92, of Hamlet passed away Saturday, Sept. 6,  2014 at her home.

She was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Unicoi, TN, a daughter of the late May and Samuel Isaac Riddle.

She was a devoted member of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her son, Samuel Isaac Brown of Port Orchard, Wash.;  a daughter, Rebecca Jean Brown of Oroville, Calif.; three grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a nephew, Richard Wilson of Unicoi, Tenn.; and a niece,  Lane Barber of Hamlet.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at First Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Randy Bishop officiating. Interment will be a later date in Unicoi.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Community Home Care and their staff; and special caregivers, Mae Grooms, Betty Branson, Gloria Carter, Cindy Goodman, and Ron Goodman.  Thank you for the love and care you all gave to our mother.
