Bebop Umbrellas opens Thursday at the Burr

The Cheraw Arts Commission is featuring Bebop Umbrellas at the Burr Gallery in conjunction with the upcoming South Carolina Jazz Festival.  The public is invited to a gallery opening on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Jazzy umbrellas have been created by local students at Long Middle School, Cheraw High School and Faith Christian Academy.  The umbrellas will be available for purchase to be carried in the South Carolina Jazz Festival Bebop parade.  Proceeds will support the arts programs at the participating schools.

The Bebop parade kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:45 a.m. at the Dizzy Gillespie park site on Huger Street.  This Bebop Umbrellas project is sponsored by Buddy Brooks State Farm Insurance Agency.
