CUMBERLAND —Nick Russ wasn’t at his best on Thursday night. He didn’t need it.

The 43-year-old Cumberland resident topped the field of 10 to earn the Week 13 league victory of Western Maryland Disc Golf on Thursday at Central Assembly of God in Cumberland.

Russ finished with a 9 under par score of 46. His bogey-free effort included nine birdies. David Warder, 31, of Frostburg, finished two strokes behind Russ with a 48. Scott Mallery, 53, of Mount Savage, was third (50). Mallery led Russ by two strokes after the front nine but Russ, as is his custom, was able to overtake Mallery and the field with a 5 under par 23 on the back nine.

Russ also had the top spot in Week 10, when he threw a 43 and won by four strokes.

B.J. Lewis, of Frostburg, was fourth (52), while Nic Davies, 25, of Mount Savage, placed fifth (53). Bill Shreve, 46, of Cumberland, took sixth (55), one stroke ahead of Brett Workman (56) and two ahead of Duke University student Sean Fiscus, 20 (57), and University of Maryland student Jack Twigg, 19 (59), who recorded a season best in league play. Keith Raynor, 45, of Vale Summit, rounded out the field of 10 with a 60.
