ANNAPOLIS — The marching bands from Fort Hill and Mountain Ridge high schools combined to perform Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” during halftime of the Maryland Class 1A state football championship game.

Fort Hill overwhelmed Mountain Ridge 51-31 for the school’s eighth football championship on Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The Sentinels led 31-19 at intermission, and the bands from the two schools joined together on the field. It was the first time two bands from Allegany County performed together at a state championship.

Each band also performed a selection of their choice. Fort Hill performed “Firework,” while Mountain Ridge performed “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
