School board forgives 2 bad weather days

Last day of school will be June 12

GREENSBORO — The Guilford County Schools Board of Education agreed to waive two planned inclement weather make-up days for all schools.

GCS_logoIn a special meeting on Wednesday, the board agreed to forgive the days to allow the district to keep its current grading periods and state testing schedule, which by state law must occur during the last 10 days of school. Additionally, three GCS schools missed an additional day of school because of site-based issues. The board also agreed to waive the three planned make-up days at the end of the year for Bessemer Elementary, Gateway Education Center and Western Middle.

June 12 will be the last day of school for students on a traditional calendar. The revised traditional and non-traditional calendars may be found at the links below:
