MOUNT SAVAGE, Md. — Members of youth sports teams, 4-H clubs, the Frostburg Dance Academy and many area volunteer fire and rescue units — Mount Savage, Ellerslie, Corriganville, Wellersburg, LaVale, Shaft, Tri-Towns, Good Will and Frostburg among them — took part in the annual Labor Day Parade on Monday afternoon in the historic town of Mount Savage.

Members of the Mountain Ridge Miners Marching Band joined their fellow parade entrants in the staging area along Iron Rail Street and then followed the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America from the start of the parade on state Route 36 near the Masonic Lodge to the Iron Rail Diner about six-tenths of a mile up the newly paved main thoroughfare that now includes double yellow traffic lines.

The parade, which included plenty of tractors, served as the jump start to an afternoon of fun that included live music, a grilled dinner by the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Department, inflatables and more.
