ROCKINGHAM — A Rockingham woman is scheduled to appear in Richmond County District Court on July 2 after she allegedly took drugs into the Richmond County Jail and tried to pass them to an inmate.

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nancy Diane Bookout, 69, on June 8 and charged her with delivery of a Scheduled IV controlled substance, providing drugs to an inmate and possessing a controlled substance on jail premises.

Deputies said the drugs were intercepted before the inmate was able to obtain the drugs.

Bookout ordered ordered held on a $20,000 secure bond and confined to the Richmond County Jail.
