EAST ROCKINGHAM — An East Rockingham man was arrested on Sunday by Richmond County sheriff’s deputies after allegedly being involved in a vicious assault.
Deputies responded on Sunday to a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived at a home on Airport Road in East Rockingham, they found Andrae Jovan Stradford, 27, assaulting the victim. Deputies restrained Stradford after a brief struggle and determined he had severed some of the victim’s fingers and ear.
The victim also received injury to his eye. The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for further medical treatment.
Stradford was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, malicious maiming, resisting a public officer and assault on a government official.
Stradford was ordered held on an $850,000 secure bond and confined to the Richmond County Jail.
