Obituary: Ruby Grant Steen

Mrs. Ruby Mae Grant Steen, 91, of 122 Prevatte’s Chapel Road, Bennettsville, S.C., went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at her residence.

She was born July 13, 1923 in Marlboro County, daughter of Malone L. Grant and Mary Maness Grant.

Mrs. Steen was splicer in textiles and a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by two brothers; James Lacy Grant, Lloyd Grant, Sr; one sister, Rachael Turner, and a daughter Linda Luticha.

She is survived by her husband, Ellison Jerry Steen, of the home, daughters: Nancy Butler and husband Wayne of Rockingham, and Treva Hewitt and husband Tony of Bennettsville; sons, Jimmy Steen of Bennettsville and Tommy Steen and wife Wanda of Rockingham; two sisters, Ruth Martin of Hamlet and Thelma Shirah of Hickory; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchilren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Joy Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. at the church on Saturday, May 9 with Rev. June Grant and Rev.David Bullard officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Steen Cemetery in Bennettsville.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Mrs. Ruby Mae Grant Steen.
