12-year-old boy struck by dirt bike

CORDOVA — A 12-year-old boy was struck Wednesday evening by a dirt bike while at the Cordova School.

breaking_newsThe call was reported to emergency dispatchers at approximately 7:25 p.m. Volunteers with Cordova Fire and Rescue and personnel with FirstHealth EMS, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the soccer field adjacent to the Church Street facility.

Emergency dispatcher chatter indicated the boy suffered an injury to one leg. He was transported to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital for further medical treatment.

The investigation is continuing.
