RICHMOND COUNTY — Looks like mowing the lawn will have to wait until at least Tuesday.
Central North Carolina, from the border with Virginia to South Carolina, is under a hazardous weather look from the National Weather Service tonight into Monday.
The outlook is for a 14-county area including Richmond, Anson, Moore and Montgomery counties. The Raleigh bureau forecasts possible flash flooding across portions of the Triad and Western Piedmont this afternoon.
There is a “slight risk” of severe thunderstorms on Monday. In addition, scattered thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of a cold front tracking east across the region late Monday afternoon into Monday evening.
Any storms that develop could become severe, with a primary threat of damaging winds and quarter- to golf ball-sized hail.
