Truck hits poles, knocks out power in East Rock neighborhood

EAST ROCKINGHAM — A transfer truck crashed into two telephone poles at about 8:36 a.m. Wednesday, knocking out power to 107 Duke Energy power customers.

The crash inflicted property damage, including downed fences, along Safie 3rd Street.

Volunteers from the East Rockingham Fire Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded immediately to the scene.

No word in whether or not anyone was injured in the incident. The cause of the crash was not immediately available.

Power is expected to be restored by 10:30 a.m., according to an online Duke Energy Outage Map.
