HAMLET — National Doctors’ Day is held every year on March 30 in honor of the contributions and commitments made by physicians on a daily basis.
The first Doctors’ Day observance was held on March 30, 1033, in Winder, Ga., where Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. They celebrated the occasion by mailing cards to physicians.
For the seventh consecutive year, Sandhills Regional Medical Center made a donation to the Backpack Pals program in honor of our full medical staff in lieu of them receiving gifts for Doctors’ Day.
This program provides a weekend supply of food to eligible students. This continued support of such a worthy program shows that the compassion our physicians have transcend these hospital walls and their physician offices.
