Edgar Robert Hollingsworth, 88, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at The Hermitage.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born June 16, 1926 in Richmond County, a son of the late Gilbert and Mima Virginia Steen Hollingsworth.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Glenwood Free Will Baptist Church and had retired from Calvert Distillery after 31 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children, Mary Kay Hollingsworth, a son, Gilbert “Bo” Hollingsworth, a grandchild, Andy Hollingsworth and three brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Johnson Hollingsworth; daughters, Paula Colden and Brenda Rollings, both of Rockingham; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and sisters, Jane Shirk and Edith Grant, both of Rockingham.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Park officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Zion United Methodist ChurchCemetery.
The family will see friends from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
