Pet owners can take advantage of four rabies vaccination clinics scheduled for early May. Each vaccination is $8.
North Carolina law requires all dogs and cats 4 months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies each year. All dogs and cats found without current rabies vaccination tags on collars will be subject to impoundment by the Richmond County Animal Control.
Licensed veterinarians will be at the following locations on the dates and times listed below:
* From 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at Ellerbe Lions Club Park
* From 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at at Cordova Fire and Rescue, Old Cheray
Highway
* From 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at the Hamlet Fire Department
* From 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at the Richmond County Health Department, 123 Caroline St., Rockingham
Vaccine will be used at all clinics in accordance with North Carolina State Rabies Law. Dogs should be on leashes and cats in carrying cages.
