Obituary: Steve Paul

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Steve Paul, 81, of Rockingham, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

He was born June 11, 1933 in Richmond County, a son of the late William Moody and Marie Pearl Walker Paul.

Mr. Paul served in the U.S. Army and retired from JP Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie Lee Paul and a daughter Chris Billings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the Shining Light Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Smith and Rev. Larry Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Surviving, Daughters, Saralyn Paul of Rockingham, Stephanie Rainwater of the home and Mellie Webb (Kenneth) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Melissa Lassiter of Peachland, Amanda Lassiter of Rockingham, Hollie Turner (Wayne) of Rockingham, Josh Hatley (Amanda) of New Loudon, Matthew, Nick, and Adam Webb all of Ellerbe; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Vaughn of Rockingham; and brother, J.R. Benson of Rockingham.

flagThe family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
