Obituary: Lucille Covington Goodwin

obit_iconROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Lucille Canipe Covington Goodwin, 88, of Rockingham passed away Friday,  March 6,  2015 at Richmond Pines Healthcare  in Hamlet.

She was born August 15,  1926 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Frank  and Johnsie Lassiter Canipe.

She was the owner of Mayfair Beauty Shop for over 40 years and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted graveside 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Zion United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Crestview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Goodwin is survived by a daughter, Lucinda Pittman (John) of Durham; a son, Joel Covington of Rockingham; grandchildren, Brad Pittman of Durham,  Jenny Pittman of Charleston, S.C., and Michael Pittman (Breanna) of Raleigh;  great grandchildren, Makayla and Stryder Pittman; stepchildren,  Judy Thurow, Susan Webb, and Gary Goodwin; and special nieces, Emily Kelly and Pat Chappell.  She was preceded in death by husbands, L.C. Covington and Bill Goodwin.

Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 436 Crestview Dr., Rockingham,  NC  28379 or Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham,  NC  28379.
