More than 40 golfers from as far away as Maryland and Georgia participated in the charity event despite a steady rain that grew in intensity at times to a downpour.

Proceeds from the event assist Poplar Hill Lodge 331 in funding scholarships for local students. Last year, the lodge assisted 12 high school and college students. The goal this year is to raise $10,000 — enough to help 20 students.
