ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Sheriff’s Office personnel, in conjunction with agents from the State Bureau of Investigation, Rockingham Police Department and ATF arrested six people Tuesday in a countywide roundup of suspected meth manufacturers.

The six individuals arrested were identified Thursday during a news conference in the office of Sheriff James Clemmons Jr.:

* Thomas “Tommy” Brantley Jenkins II, 57, of Ellerbe
* Tracy “T-Mac” Allen McDonald, 48, of Rockingham
* Christopher Jarred Jenkins, 26, of Ellerbe
* Thomas Leslie Snead, 41, of East Rockingham
* Phillip Allen McGee, 41, of Hamlet
* Sandra Martin Leviner, 53, Rockingham

Each individual was charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, manufacture methamphetamine, possession of pseudoephedrine, and possession of materials to manufacture meth.

Clemmons said he should know in about a week if the cases will be adopted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina in Greensboro.

Clemmons, along with Chief Deputy Mark Gulledge and Capt. Jay Childers, who oversees the agency’s Criminal Investigations Division, said the arrests were the result of a long-term investigation.

McGee and Christopher Jenkins already were in custody for unrelated charges. Four are now being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail, while Jenkins was already in Moore County Jail, also without bond.

Clemmons urged anyone who suspects someone is making meth near their home to call law enforcement or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.

“This stuff is so volatile … anything could happen,” Clemmons said.

Clemmons expressed particular concern about children who could be in the vicinity of adults manufacturing meth.

Gulledge noted that county law enforcement isn’t resting on its laurels. Late Wednesday into early Thursday morning, he said county investigators and deputies interrupted a “shake-and-bake” meth cook in progress.

“If they continue to want to cook, we’re gonna be there to make an arrest,” Gulledge said.
