Saunders, Owens join Rockingham PD

ROCKINGHAM — Police Chief Billy Kelly introduced the latest additions to the department to Rockingham City Council members Tuesday night during a public meeting.

Chauncey Devonta Saunders, 22, completed his Basic Law Enforcement Training at Richmond Community College before joining the department in July 2014. Kelly said he plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice. He lives in Rockingham.

Jan Taylor Owens is married and lives in Richmond County. She has one one son in the Marine Corps. Owens has nearly four years’ experience in law enforcement and, prior to that, logged 10 years with the Department of Social Services. Owens earned her associate’s degree in criminal justice. She joined the department in September.
