Obituary: Muriel Canipe

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Muriel Elaine Brown Canipe, 92 of 107 Homeward Drive, Rockingham, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 in FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 14, 1923 in Lancaster, S.C., a daughter of the late Judson Gibbs and Fannie Lou Settlemyer Brown.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of East Rockingham United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Warren Canipe, her half -brothers Wilson and Clarence Brown, her brothers; Harry C., Bruce and Doug Brown and a sister Joyce English.

She is survived by sons; Scott Canipe of Rockingham, Warren Canipe of Valrico, Fla., and Brian Canipe of Chester, Va., a  daughter, Julie C. Thomas of Rockingham, brother, Richard Brown of Rockingham, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 3 at Richmond County Memorial Park. Rev. Pat Sykes will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Homeward Drive.
