The emergency call for help was reported at 9:55 p.m. and directed first-responders to a dirt road located in the 200 block of Mount Olive Church Road off U.S. Highway 1. What seemed to have started as an effort to burn a bunch of trash — including old television sets, cardboard boxes and garbage bags — turned into something else as the blaze creeped into the woods.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. The site was cleared at 10:43 p.m.
