HAMLET — The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce is raising membership dues for 2015 — the nonprofit business advocacy group’s first rate increase since 2007.
The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce is a private, membership-driven organization comprised of 400 businesses, municipalities, civic organizations, educational institutions and individuals in Richmond County.
Membership dues will increase 5 percent, which “amounts to a $1 increase per month” for the average member. The rate hike was announced by a notice included in this month’s membership invoices.
“As with any business, from time to time it becomes necessary to increase dues to match expenses and this year, the board of directors has approved a small increase to keep pace with the cost of running the business of the chamber,” reads the notice.
Board members noted the chamber received the Carolinas Accreditation for Chambers of Commerce in North Carolina and South Carolina. Officials also noted the chamber “has worked hard to increase the value of your membership, including increased social and media presence, offering more free seminars, providing stronger business training and building stronger community partnerships and much more.”
The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce stages the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Appreciation dinner at year, as well as the Citizen of the Year banquet, the legislative breakfast, the business expo and the networking opportunities of Business Before Hours and Business After Hours.
