LAURINBURG — Seventeen Rockingham Middle School students traveled to St. Andrews University on Saturday to compete in the regional Science Olympiad tournament. Together, they brought home medals in six categories.
Congratulations to Faith Baxley and Emily Parsons for placing first in Crave the Wave, while Rhonda Durham, Kylie McDonald, and Enrique Soriano-Jimenez received top honors in Experimental Design. These overall first-place winners qualified to compete at the state tournament in Raleigh this April.
Additionally, Baxley and Julianna Chapman took second in Anatomy. Christopher Austin and Jake Ransom received third in Air Trajectory, as did Chapman and Alex Branch for the Duct Tape Challenge. Mason Bailey and Rhonda Durham also placed third in Entomology.
