ROCKINGHAM — The Rockingham Rockets capped perfect regular season Thursday as they beat the Anson Bearcats 40-22 in both teams’ season finale.
“We had very good ball movement, we were very aggressive, we shot well today, and we played against the press well,” Rockingham coach Teresa Mason said. “I couldn’t ask them to play any harder or any better than they did today.”

The Rockets outscored the Bearcats 14-2 in the first quarter, beginning the game on a 10-0 run. It didn’t get much better for the Bearcats, who scored only 3 points to the Rockets’ 12 in the second quarter. The Rockets took a 26-5 halftime lead.
The Rockets were held to only nine points in the third quarter, while allowing eight for the Bearcats. The fourth quarter was the only quarter the Bearcats outscored the Rockets. The Bearcats scored a quarter-high nine points while holding the Rockets to only five points.
