Second art show exhibit opens Feb. 2

Apple and JarThe second Art Show at the Leath Memorial Library in Rockingham opens on Monday, Feb. 2 with a public reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Calvin Little Room Gallery.

This free public show, open to all visual artists, is part of the cultural outreach program instituted by The Friends of the Leath Memorial Library and installed with the help of the Pee Dee Artist Guild.  The exhibit continues Mondays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Tuesdays thru Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.  The show closes Friday, March 27.  This is a varied and colorful show you won’t want to miss.

The 2015 season continues with a ‘Photography and Digital Art Show’ opening April 13 with a public reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  This show is open to all photographers and digital artists.  Receiving of entries will be at the Leath Library on March 30 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  There is no entrance , hanging fee, or commission collected.  The exhibit will be open to the public thru June 5.

A Youth Exhibit follows in June and July.  This show, featuring works by artists age 16 to 22, will accept entries at the Leath Library on June 8 from from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The opening reception to meet the artists  is Monday, June 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The show closes on Aug. 28.

The final show of the 2015 season, featuring paintings, drawings, and mixed mediums, runs from an opening reception from Oct. 5 through Nov. 25.  Art works will be received from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28.  The ‘Meet the Artists’ reception is from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 5.

This wonderful opportunity for area artists to exhibit or sell their work is a revival of an amazingly successful program which continued for many years before ending about 20 years ago.  During those years many people, young and old,students and children, people from all walks of life, visited the Calvin Little Room to enjoy the wide variety of original art work in a well appointed gallery designed to showcase area talent.

The Friends of the Leath Memorial Library are delighted to again invite artists, patrons, and visitors to come to the library and peruse the offerings of our talented citizens.  Free.
