Obituary: Pearl Smith Olerud

Pearl Smith Olerud, 76, passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at her residence while surrounded by her family.

She was born June 4, 1938, in Richmond County, daughter of Belton Smith Sr. and Nona Smith Smith.

obit_iconPearl was a member of Springhill Wesleyan Church and previously worked at Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include her daughters: Donna Johnson, of Hamlet, Jane Seaborn, of Michigan, Laurie Watson, of Hamlet, Sandy Moore, of Gastonia, and Pamela Horne, of Hamlet; her son, Donald T. Olerud Jr. ; brothers, Marshall Smith of Laurel Hill and Floyd Smith of Hamlet; two sisters, Irene Poston, of Cheraw, S.C., and Clara Herndon of Laurel Hill; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: brothers, Belton Smith Jr., James “Son” Smith and Rudolph Smith; and one sister Lillian Barber.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harrington Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Springhill Wesleyan Church with Rev. Dan Seaborn officiating. Burial will follow at Smith family cemetery.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Olerud family.
