Obituary: Bruce G. Allen

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mr. Bruce G. Allen, 83, of 242 Crestview Drive, Rockingham, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

He was born May 23, 1931 in Richmond County, a son of the late Henry Thomas and Vera Thomas Allen.

Mr. Allen was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Allen Brothers Timber Company with his brother Ben Allen.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Ruth Efird Allen in 2012.

Mr. Allen is survived by his sons, Bruce G. Allen Jr. and wife Wendy, Richard Clayton Allen and wife Maria, and Thomas Craig Allen and wife Allison; three grandchildren, Bruce Green Allen III, Rebecca J. Allen, and Ashley R. Allen; one great-grandchild, Katlin Allen; a sister, Maurice Covington; and brothers, Ben Allen, Gene Allen and Steve Allen.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m.  Monday at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Robby Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be sent to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379 and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
