Man charged in home burglary

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies have arrested an 18-year-old Hamlet man wanted in connection with a home break-in that took place earlier this month in Rockingham.

Authorities arrested Christopher Lee Huckabee Jr., 18, on Tuesday on charged him with breaking and entering a home on Jan. 3 on Northam Road, larceny after a breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, felony probation violation and communicating threats.

Huckabee also was charged with resisting a public officer as police say he attempted to flee the day he was arrested. Huckabee was arrested and placed in Richmond County Jail and ordered held on a $36,000 secure bond.
