EAST ROCKINGHAM — Tatiana Little scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter to lead host Rohanen past Ellerbe Monday night in girls’ middle school basketball action.

The Rebels led 23-2 at halftime and limited the Wildcats to no more than two points in any quarter — and zero in the second — en route to victory.

RebelsDannon Shepard scored the game’s first six points and finished with eight on the night. Other scorers for the Rebels included Tasheka Harrington (five), Haleigh Poston (two) and Brianna Wall (two).

Ellerbe was nearly shut out again in the fourth quarter; the team’s only basket of the period came with 0.18 seconds left on the clock.

The Wildcats play back-to-back when they host Spring Hill at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Rohanen, meanwhile, gears up for the final two games of the regular season on the road. The Rebels travel to Spring Hill on Wednesday and play at Hamlet on Thursday.

    Good job Nick.

I know Mr. Beggs is a new writer and by all accounts seems to be an intelligent and hardworking young man. This is not meant as a criticism of the writer, but simply a question for the Pee Dee Post in general. Why doesn’t the PDP ever interview the coaches? I know the Post is *watching* games, but I’m not so sure you’re really *covering* them

One step at a time, Danny P. There is a process in place. We don’t expect Nick to perfect anything overnight, and neither should readers. We’ve been very open about him being new to the sports writing game.

As for most of the middle school basketball coverage, the write-ups have been written from highlights provided by the coaches. Until Rohanen and Ellerbe played on Jan. 26, the Post had actually been at/covered one game this season.

      Thanks for reading.

      Kevin
