Free seminar focuses on starting a nonprofit

LAURINBURG — Are you considering starting a non-profit organization to tackle a community or social issue? Have you been asked to help get a new non-profit off the ground?

Before you leap in, it is critical to understand the intricacies surrounding this inspiring, rewarding, and challenging endeavor. To assist those considering the venture, the Small Business Center of Richmond Community College will offer a free workshop from 6-9 p.m. Thursday focusing on starting a non-profit organization.

Calvin F. Patterson, CEO of Earnest Harvest LLC, will lead the presentation that will be held at the F. Diane Honeycutt Center in Laurinburg.

Upon successful completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Have clear understanding of effective action items before starting a non-profit organization
  • Utilize resources to develop a defined mission, vision, purpose of organization
  • Be familiar with regulatory protocol to start an organization
  • Understand the need to develop an effective team to execute plans for the organization

The F. Diane Honeycutt Center is located at 600 McLean St. in Laurinburg.
