Free Alzheimer’s classes coming in February

RP_AlzRichmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is hosting two free seminars intended to educate family members and caregivers about Alzheimer’s disease.

“The Basics of Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s” will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12. “Know the 10 Signs” is set for the same time on Thursday, Feb. 26. Both sessions, co-sponsored by the Western Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association,  will take place at Richmond Pines, located at 769 Cheraw Road in Hamlet.

Experts will focus on the fact that Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of aging. The programs will help family members on:

* Detection
* Causes and risk factors
* Stages of the disease
* Treatments.

Early detection gives individuals a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and prepare for the future with their loved ones before a crisis situation occurs.

RSVP your intent to attend to Natalie Eubanks at 910-582-0021 or online at www.alz.org/northcarolina. Click on calendar, go to event date, click on event name and follow instructions to RSVP online.
