Brown has worked as the PIO and director of public relations for slightly more than two years. Prior to that, Brown was a reporter with the Richmond County Daily Journal.

Dr. Cindy Goodman, schools superintendent, took a break from the agenda early in Monday night’s public meeting to recognize Brown for her service.

“We’ve really enjoyed having you,” Goodman said.

Goodman also threw in a humorous jab at the departing Brown, who’s “letting something small like getting married affect her professional career.”

Brown is engaged to C.J. Smith and has a February wedding date. Her last day with Richmond County Schools is Jan. 30. After the wedding, the couple plans to reside in Davidson County.
