Wrape, Cloninger lead 46 county runners in Reindeer Fun Run

1,691 runners complete 5K, 12K races

Staff report

ABERDEEN — Greg Wrape is, if nothing else, the model of consistency.

The 30-year-old Hamlet man was less than 13 seconds off from his 2013 performance on Saturday in the 8th annual Reindeer Fun Run 12K, a 7.45-mile footrace through downtown Aberdeen. Proceeds benefitted the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sandhills. Wrape’s effort earned him fifth place — same as last year — among 389 finishers.

The 12K incorporates the 5K route plus a self-paced tour of Bethesda and the Malcolm Blue Farm. Both courses finish on a sloping downhill toward downtown Aberdeen and historic Union Station.
