Local governments have announced changes to garbage collection or convenience site schedules due to the upcoming holidays.
In Rockingham
All city of Rockingham offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Dec. 26. The city’s Sanitation Department will be collecting household garbage as follows:
* Monday/Thursday route will be collected on Monday only;
* Tuesday/Friday route will be collected on Tuesday only;
* Street trash, such as leaves, limbs, etc., will not be collected.
For New Year’s Day, all city offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1. Garbage collection is as follows:
* Monday/Thursday route will be collected on Monday and Wednesday;
* Tuesday/Friday route will be collected on Tuesday and Friday.
As both weeks are short weeks, street trash will not be a guaranteed pickup.
In Hamlet
City offices are closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26. Garbage will be picked up on Dec. 26. City offices also will be closed on Jan. 1, with garbage being picked up on Jan. 2.
In Ellerbe
The town will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26. Garbage will be collected on Monday.
In Dobbins Heights
Picking up Dec. 22 and Dec. 26; and again Dec. 29 and Jan. 2
Richmond County
All Richmond County convenience sites will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
However, all sites will be open all day on Dec. 23 — no matter what the current schedule shows.
The normal schedule will resume on Friday, Dec. 26.
