The event, sponsored by the Cole Foundation and supported by dozens of local businesses, invites area residents age 60 and older to engage in fellowship, learn more about services offered to seniors and, of course, party. Roscoe, of Hamlet, opened up the live entertainment on stage with a mix of music and comedy. With the crowd cheering and clapping in rhythm to the music, the 69-year-old fit right in.

There are two sessions of today’s party — necessary in order to fit everyone inside. The first program lasts from 9 a.m. until noon. The party then picks up again at 2 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m.
