Obituary: Betty Stevens

obit_iconMrs. Betty “Penny” Hinson Stevens, 81, of 80 Second Ave., Rockingham, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

She was born Dec. 13, 1934 in Richmond County, daughter of Maxie Hinson and Jessie Mae Hulon Hinson.

Penny was a member of Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church, now a Touch of Grace in Hamlet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William B. Stevens ; brother Wayne Hinson; and sister Ruth Griffin.

Survivers include her daughters, Ellen Gainey and Wanda Brigman both of Rockingham; sister, Geraldine McHalftey of Brookland, Ark.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Touch of Grace with the funeral to begin at 3 p.m. Rev. Tug Gainey, Rev. John Daniels and Rev. Frank McQuage will be officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Stevens family.
