FLORENCE, S.C. — An Ellerbe man and eight others were arrested Wednesday on charges of solicitation of prostitution after detectives posted on Internet sites known to advertise for prostitution.
Larry Hogan, 61, was apprehended when detectives with the Florence Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit conducted the under cover prostitution sting by chatting with the men online and making arrangements to meet them. That’s when the arrests were made, Major Carlos Raines told News13 in Florence.
The other eight men arrested were: Bret Bohler, 50, of Florence; Christopher Edwards, 30, of Greeleyville; Sydney Yarborough, 32, of Scranton; James Biddix, 48, of Florence; Jennifer Bryant, 27, of Darlington; Anthony McCants, 52, of Florence; Jamie Timmons, 20, of Florence; and Ernie Shavers, 51, of Lake City.
It should be noted that the 48-year-old Biddix, of Florence, is not the 53-year-old Rockingham resident James Biddix IV. Neither he nor his father, fellow Rockingham resident James Biddix III, had anything to do with the incident.
All nine people were booked into the Florence County Detention Center. Online records show that Hogan was released from jail shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday.
