DOBBINS HEIGHTS — An small but dedicated crowd took part in the annual Dobbins Heights Christmas tree lighting ceremony that took place on Friday in front of Town Hall.
The town has hosted the event since 2008, the year after Antonio Blue was elected mayor.
Councilwoman Gracie C. Jackson led the group of about 12 people in the singing of “Silent Night,” before opening the brief ceremony in prayer.
Blue plugged in the power cord to light up the tree that had been decorated by Councilman Tyre’ Holloway, his wife Begita, Councilwoman Angeline K. David and Jonathan Davis. Town employee Elgin McLean assisted with the logistics and hooking up the electricity.
Almost everyone enjoyed taking photos of each other in front of the tree after the tree was lit with bright white lights that blink on and off. Cookies and hot chocolate were available inside Town Hall.
