ROCKINGHAM — It happens every year, but it never gets old.

Richmond County government officials Tuesday night staged the 14th annual Employee Appreciation Dinner at the Army National Guard Armory on Rockingham Road. The event once again served as a way of saying thank you for the years of effort many employees put in.

The buffet was prepared and served by Seaboard Station Restaurant in Hamlet. They prepared to serve 575 people, and by the way the armory was filled, there likely wasn’t much food left afterwards.

This time, 54 employees were presented with length-of-service awards. In all, the veteran group of county workers have a combined 619 years of service in Richmond County government. They do their job, Sago said, and do it well.

Those presented length-of-service awards Tuesday night include:

Marian Savage, assistant to the county manager

30 years
Betty Horne, office assistant with the Department of Social Services
